IMPROVING ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE IN LANGEBERG MUNICIPALITY

The tender for the implementation of the Langeberg Municipal road asset management plan, valued at R 52 800 048.28 (Inc. VAT) has commenced with the upgrade of the existing roads in Robertson, Ashton, Bonnievale and Montagu.

The repair, reseal and resurface project kicked off in Adderley Street, Robertson on 27 September 2023. 

Langeberg Municipality is facing a huge road infrastructure maintenance backlog due to severe budget constraints. Rainfall this past season have not only made it very difficult to fix roads, but the wet conditions also contribute to the further deterioration of the road surface.  

The community of Langeberg will soon see great strides being made to address this backlog. Although additional funding is required to address the total need, this project will definitely improve a number of roads.

We urge all road users to please be patient as sections of the road will be closed of or partially open while work is being completed, and traffic delays are to be expected. Drivers are asked to be careful when driving through construction zones and areas where people are working on or near the road.

The following roads will form part of the above project during the 2023/2024 financial years. The rehabilitation of these roads will ensure extended life of the road in our area. It is important to note that not all roads identified will receive the same rehabilitation method. Some roads will only receive a slurry seal.

The municipality continue with the Potholes Repair Programme and cleaning of stormwater channels. The civil works team do their best to stay on schedule, but it is subject to the weather and other urgent matters that require the team’s attention such at pipe bursts, stormwater issues and breakdowns among other things.
