NOTICE: SCAM ALERT IN THE LANGEBERG MUNICIPAL AREA

We want to inform the public of a scam targeting residents in the Langeberg Municipality area.

A person identifying himself as "Sipho" has been contacting individuals, falsely claiming to represent the municipality and demanding bribes to prevent electricity disconnections. This is a scam. The contact details provided by this individual are as follows: Sipho – 076 808 8905.

Just so you know, the Langeberg Municipality will never request payments, bribes, or any personal financial information over the phone or in-person to prevent service disconnections.

We urge residents not to engage with this individual or provide any money or personal information. If you receive such a call, please report it immediately to your local police station or contact the Langeberg Municipality's independent 24/7 Ethics and Fraud hotline at

Neem asseblief kennis van bedrogpleging  wat gemik is op die inwoners van die Langeberg Munisipale area.

'n Persoon wat homself as "Sipho" identifiseer, kontak individue en beweer valslik dat hy die munisipaliteit verteenwoordig.    Hy eis dan omkoopgeld  om elektrisiteitsonderbrekings te voorkom en verskaf  dan die volgende kontakbesonderhede aan die publiek:   Sipho – 076 808 8905.  Let asseblief daarop  dat dit ‘n  bedrogspul is.

Langeberg Munisipaliteit sal  nooit betalings, omkoopgeld, of enige persoonlike finansiële inligting oor die telefoon of persoonlik  versoek van ‘n kliënt  om diensonderbrekings te voorkom nie.

Ons doen ‘n dringende beroep op inwoners om  geen kontak met hierdie persoon te maak ,  of  geld of persoonlike inligting aan hom te verskaf nie.  Indien u so ‘n oproep ontvang, meld dit asseblief onmiddellik by u plaaslike polisiekantoor aan of kontak die Langeberg Munisipaliteit se onafhanklike 24/7 Bedrogklaglyn by
