PLANNED MAINTENANCE MAY EXCEED SCHEDULED DURATION
Planned maintenance work is done to ensure the safety and functionality of infrastructure, reducing the risk of unexpected breakages or failures. The scheduled maintenance time communicated to residents is an estimate, and the full scope of the required work can only be determined once maintenance begins. This may lead to planned maintenance exceeding the scheduled duration.
On 20 June 2023, essential maintenance on the 11 kV switchgear had to be completed in Robertson. Unfortunately, the maintenance took longer than expected because the switchgear and its internal components were in worse condition than initially assumed. The full extent could only be determined after the switchgear had been switched off and the components inside had been checked and tested.
Load shedding has a big impact on our electrical switchgear. If maintenance is not done on the switching equipment, it is life-threatening for any Municipal worker to do any switching work at the Substation.
We want to express our gratitude to the public for their cooperation in allowing us to carry out the necessary maintenance work. We sincerely apologise for the extended duration and any inconvenience caused.
