PUBLIC PARTICIPATION: COME ENGAGE WITH YOUR MUNICIPALITY

Dear Community Members, as part of our ongoing commitment to inclusivity and transparency, we are excited to share with you our Public Participation Action Implementation Plan for the upcoming review of the Integrated Development Plan (IDP). This plan is designed to ensure that every voice in our community is heard and considered in shaping our municipality's future.

Here’s what you need to know:

Introduction:

Our goal with this plan is to foster meaningful engagement between the Municipality and the community throughout the IDP review process. We have structured a comprehensive approach to gather your input, provide feedback, and incorporate your suggestions into the final plan.

1. Public Participation Schedule

Phase 1:

- Community Engagements:

  • We will be holding community meetings across all 12 wards to gather initial feedback. Additionally, block meetings will be organized by your ward committee representatives for more localised discussions.
  • We will also review the past 12 months of ward committee meeting minutes to ensure all concerns are addressed.

- Advertising and Notifications:

  • Keep an eye on local newspapers and newsletters for announcements about these meetings. We will update the website and social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) and WhatsApp channel with event details and relevant documents.

- Submission Channels:

  • Share your thoughts and feedback via email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., message us on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), reply to any Langeberg municipal sms (cost R1.50), submit a contact us website form (www.langeberg.gov.za) or complete and return the questionnaires distributed by Ward Committee members.

- Engagement with Sector Departments:

  • We’ll align our process with national, provincial, and municipal planning structures. Additionally, we will engage with the Western Cape District Integrated Forum to ensure broader input.

- Organized Community Organisations:

  • We invite organized community groups to participate in targeted sessions to provide specialized input.
