ROBERTSON RESIDENTS TO BOIL TAP WATER BEFORE DRINKING

As a precautionary measure, we urge residents in Ward 3 (Robertson) to boil tap water for 1 minute to ensure the water is safe for consumption. Residents can also treat water with household chlorine bleach to disinfect water for consumption.

THE AREAS AFFECTED:

Droëheuwel, Panorama, Heuwel street, Iris Street, Jubel Street, Kloof Street, Langeberg Street, Malva Street and Muller Street.

Water boiling requirements:

As a safety precaution, residents should boil tap water for ⏰️ at least 1 minute to use for drinking purposes.

Let it cool down and store water in clean food grade containers and keep containers covered.

Alternative disinfection method for water:

Mix one teaspoon of unperfumed household Chlorine Bleach to 20 liters of water.

Allow the mixture to stand for 2 hours.

Keep the water covered with a cloth or lid to keep out flies and dirt. Your water is now safe to drink.

Langeberg Municipality will continue to test the water and monitor the quality of drinking water to inform residents when the water is again safe for consumption to a degree where precautionary boiling is no longer required.
