UPGRADED INFORMAL TRADING AREA OPENS IN ROBERTSON
On 1 November 2024, Langeberg Municipality celebrated the opening of an upgraded informal trading area in Robertson with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. This project, which began in April 2023 and cost R3,687,956.65, is set to accommodate around 60 informal traders.
Enhancing these facilities aligns with the municipality’s tourism strategy, creating an inviting space for both traders and visitors. The new trading area offers a safe and organised environment where traders can showcase their goods and services.
Deputy Mayor Alderman Christopher Grootboom expressed his excitement for the initiative, saying, “This project underscores our commitment to supporting local talent and nurturing a robust informal economy. We believe that these investments in our community are investments in our collective future.”
The new trading area is expected to attract both local shoppers and tourists, boosting the town’s economy and highlighting the unique range of products offered by Robertson’s traders. The municipality invites residents and visitors to explore the area and support local businesses.
He continued, “You are the ones who will be using this facility. Treat it like your own home—look after it, take care of it, because in the end, it’s for you. From the municipality and me, may God bless your businesses, and may you find success here.”
