YOUTH ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES
South Africa continues to celebrate this year’s National Youth Month under the theme: “Accelerating youth economic emancipation for a sustainable future”.
Government is dedicated to building a South Africa where young people are actively participating in the economy and creating a favourable and supportive environment for young people to generate their own income.
Over the past year, the Department of Small Business Development (DSBD) and the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) created over 46 000 opportunities for financial and non financial support to youth enterprises.
The NYDA grant programme provides young entrepreneurs with an opportunity to access both financial and non financial business development support to enable them to establish or grow their businesses.
The Small Enterprise Finance Agency (SEFA) has launched a Youth Challenge Fund that seeks to support new and existing youth owned business. Applications are currently open on the DSBD’s website: http://www.dsbd.gov.za/programme/youth challenge fund.
Young people are encouraged to register on SAYouth.mobi https://www.sayouth.mobi/Home/Index/EN to access a host of earning and learning opportunities and support.
