LANGEBERG UNITES AGAINST GBV
Langeberg Municipality, in collaboration with McGregor Clinic and other stakeholders, hosted a Gender-Based Violence (GBV) programme at McGregor Clinic. Speakers from the McGregor Community Policing Forum, the Rural Women’s Assembly, and the Department of Social Development addressed the community members regarding GBV, safety and legislation, and substance abuse. Forty-five (45) community members attended the programme.
The purpose of the programme is to raise awareness about the social, economic, and health impacts of GBV. The campaign also aims to raise awareness about the available support services for survivors of sexual violence, abuse, and substance abuse. The municipality, in collaboration with various stakeholders, will continue implementing its internal programmes, which include community awareness, school awareness, and GBV workshops.
