LANGEBERG WELCOMES NEW MANAGERS
Langeberg Municipality is delighted to introduce Ms. Inge Cook as Manager: LED & Rural Development and Ms. Tracy Brunings as Manager: Town Planning.
Cook, who recently joined Langeberg Municipality as Manager: LED & Rural Development on August 1, 2023, will be leading efforts to achieve the council's strategic objective of "promoting and facilitating investment and Local Economic Development."
Ms. Cook holds a Master's degree in Social Science and brings extensive experience from her time in the National government sphere. Her role will involve reporting to the Director: Strategy and Social Development on matters related to Local Economic Development (LED), Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP), Tourism, Rural Development, and all Social Development initiatives.
Her main responsibilities will be addressing the needs of rural communities, social concerns, and promoting tourism and economic growth in the Langeberg area. She will assist small-scale farmers in achieving success, ensure all events are compliant and safe, execute special projects within assigned budgets, provide effective EPWP programmes, and verify business licences.
Cook will also play a vital role in rolling out the LED and Tourism strategies. Her successful project implementations in the Cape Winelands region have been instrumental in supporting both agricultural and non-agricultural rural economic and industrial development.
As of July 10, 2023, Ms. Brunings is at the helm of our Town Planning and Building Control Department. She reports directly to the Director of Engineering Services.
Her key responsibilities encompass the Langeberg Spatial Development Framework plan, overseeing land use according to the Langeberg Integrated Zoning Scheme and the National Building Regulations, as well as managing the evaluation and processing of applications in line with the Langeberg Land Use Planning Bylaw of 2015.
With an impressive 26-year residency in Montagu, Ms. Brunings has been an exceptional member of the Langeberg Municipal team for the past 14 years, contributing her expertise as a skilled Town and Regional Planner.
Holding both a Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences and a Master's degree in Town and Regional Planning, she is a registered professional with the SA Council for Town and Regional Planners. Drawing from her extensive background, Ms. Brunings possesses 17 years of experience in local government planning, 4 years in provincial government roles, and 11 years within the private sector as a proficient Town Planning consultant.
Her knowledge and dedication are valuable assets to our community and organisation.
The municipality extends our best wishes to Ms. Cook and Ms. Bruning as they take on their new roles, utilising their abilities to drive the department's success for the benefit of our communities.
