ROBERTSON LIBRARY OFFERS FREE AUDIO BOOK SERVICES TO THE BLIND AND VISUALLY IMPAIRED

The Robertson Library, part of the Langeberg Municipality's Library department, is pleased to announce the availability of a mini South African Library for the Blind Service at the library.

The library encourages visually impaired individuals, both young and old, from the Langeberg community to take advantage of this free service. Equipped with specialized software programs, the library's computer caters to the unique needs of visually impaired patrons, offering them the opportunity to engage in business or leisure activities. In addition, the library provides the latest Daisy Reader for loan, enabling users to download up to 30 audio books at a time for listening at home.

"We are happy to introduce this new service at our library. Reading and storytelling should be enjoyed and available to everyone, and through technology, almost everyone can enjoy the power of stories," said Ms Felicia Gumede, Manager: Libraries.

An official re-launch of this service is scheduled to take place on Friday, 4 August 2023. A representative from the South African Library for the Blind will visit Robertson Library to deliver a detailed presentation, demonstration, and training on how the computer software and Daisy Readers can benefit visually impaired library users.

Community members in the Langeberg Municipal area are encouraged to visit the library and take advantage of this wonderful service.

The library’s operating hours are as follows:

  • Monday, Wednesday & Friday: 08:00 - 17:00
  •   Tuesday & Thursday: 08:30 - 17:30
