SPRING NO-MOWING SITES IN THE LANGEBERG MUNICIPAL AREA
The Langeberg Municipality is obligated to deliver services to its citizens; mowing of the public open spaces, road verges, and parks forms part of the municipality’s continued commitment to service delivery. The frequency of mowing in these areas depends on their intended purpose.
We pride ourselves on beautifully landscaped, well-kept sidewalks, middle islands, and public open spaces. In spring, the blooming of some indigenous annuals, like yellow-centred, bright orange, and white daises, bulbs, and geophytes, adds more colour and beauty in these areas for locals and visitors to enjoy.
The efforts to keep these areas tidy come with the responsibility to also conserve and ensure the continued survival of the beautiful wildflowers. As such, there are identified open spaces, parks, and road verges where the mowing is halted or mowing is done selectively during the growing season, which runs from August/September to November annually, depending on the area.
